Server Design

Apart from the different type of server to do different jobs, there is main architecture design to the server which comes in different casing and modules. They are tower server, rack server and blade server.

IT Wireless Networking Solutions

Different servers do different jobs, from serving email and video to protecting internal networks and hosting websites. Some of the different servers are,

  • Proxy server: A Proxy server is a server that sits between a client application, such as a Web browser, and a real server, to improve performance and to filter requests.
  • Dedicated server: A Dedicated server is a single computer in a network reserved for serving the needs of the network.
  • Web server: A Web server is a computer that delivers Web pages. Every Web server has an IP address and possibly a domain name.
  • Application server: An application server is a program that handles all application operations between users and an organization’s back-end business applications or databases.
  • File server: A File server is a computer and storage device dedicated to storing files. Any user on the network can store files on the server.
  • Print server: A Print server is a server that manages one or more printers, and a network server is a computer that manages network traffic.
  • Cloud server: A cloud servers are services made available to customers on demand via the Internet. Rather than being provided by a single server, cloud server hosting services are provided by multiple connected servers that comprise a cloud.
  • Database server: A Database server is a computer system that processes database queries. This server performs tasks such as data analysis, storage, data manipulation, archiving, and other non-user specific tasks.

Server Setup & Installation

Servers are dedicated computing device or the computer program on a network that manages access to a centralized resource or service in a network. For example, a user may set up a server to control access to a network, send/receive e-mail, manage print jobs, or host a website. A server accepts and responds to the requests made by the client program. Server services share data or resources among multiple clients or performing computation for a client. So in short, the server is a dedicated computer or computer program which manages the network.

Server Design:

Apart from different type of server to do different jobs, there are there main architecture design to the server which comes in different casing and modules. They are tower server, rack server and blade server.

Tower Server: Tower Servers are the normal boxes (in appearance) you would have seen in Visio Diagrams. Of course, they are very powerful & have bundled software tools to manage them. The problem with Tower Severs is the space they occupy, management personnel they require, and cost of operating them (power, network, etc.). AVCOM deal with Tower server in UAE.

Rack Server: Rack Servers are servers mounted inside a Rack. It is more compact physical server than Tower server as its vertical than horizontal. In addition to this, there are many other electronic devices which adhere to this for instance – Rack Consoles, SAN devices, Power Backup devices, etc. The advantage is that you can fix them into the rack as well along with your servers. Not to mention that the hardware vendors (Dell, HP, IBM, etc.) provide additional software tools that help you effectively manage these servers and in some cases the supported devices also. AVCOM deal with Rack Server in UAE.

Blade Server: Blade Servers are an additional level of innovation on top of Rack Servers. Blade Servers are typically placed inside a blade enclosure, and together they form a blade system. A Blade system normally meets the IEEE standard of Rack Units, which means that the entire Blade system can be placed inside the rack along with other electronic equipment. The benefits of blade enclosure include hot plugging and stripped modular design (e.g. shared network ports, power connections, switches, etc.). For instance, the hardware we ordered allows us to pack 16 blade servers inside a 10U space. Blade server further reduces space and cost and is easy to manage. AVCOM deal with Blade Server in UAE.

Storage:

Data storage in a computer is the place where data is held in an electromagnetic or optical form for access by a computer processor. Computer data storage, is a technology consisting of computer components and recording media that are used to retain digital data.

The most important roles of storage of data is to keep the information stored on it safe, especially from hardware failure. Redundancy and backup are the two popular types of data protection. They are not the same, however, and it’s important to understand the differences between the two.

  • Redundancy: Redundancy in consumer-grade digital storage using more internal drives than necessary to store the information, or in other words, storing the same data in more than one place. There are many ways to do this, but the most popular is the use RAID, which can be set up on storage devices with two internal drives or more. Redundancy offers an immediate type of data protection, since internal drive failures can happen at any time, it’s important to have redundancy for storage devices that host critical information or that provide a service that must not be interrupted.
  • Backup: Home or small office users might not need redundancy but they definitely need backup, which basically means keeping separate copies of data in multiple places so that if something happens to one place you can turn to another. The more copies of data you have, the safer it is.

For data storage in computer AVCOM provides four type of solutions, they are Internal Data Storage, External Data storage, Network Access Storage and Cloud Data Storage in UAE.

Internal Data Storage in UAE:

The main types in internal data storage use today include hard disk drives (HDDs), optical storage and solid-state storage. Spinning HDDs use platters stacked on top of each other coated in magnetic media with disk heads that read and write data to the media. HDDs are the most commonly used storage in personal computers, servers and enterprise storage systems, but are rapidly giving way to faster solid-state drives (SSDs).

  • Hard Disk Drive (HDD): Hard Disk Drive is a data storage device that uses magnetic storage to store and retrieve digital information using one or more rigid rapidly rotating disks (platters) coated with magnetic material. HDD are used for internal data storage and external HDD is used as external data storage device. For internal HDD is fixed inside the computer device and are connected to the processing unit directly. AVCOM deals with Hard disk in UAE with the famous brands such as Seagate, WD, Toshiba, Samsung, Kingston etc.
  • Optical storage: Optical storage are the Secondary storage (also known as external memory or auxiliary storage), differs from primary storage in that it is not directly accessible by the CPU. The computer usually uses its input/output channels to access secondary storage and transfers the desired data using intermediate area in primary storage. Secondary storage does not lose the data when the device is powered down means that it is non-volatile. Rotating optical storage devices, such as CD and DVD drives, have even longer access times. With disk drives, once the disk read/write head reaches the proper placement and the data of interest rotates under it, subsequent data on the track are very fast to access.
  • Solid State Drive (SSD): Solid State Drives look and function similar to traditional mechanical magnetic hard drives but the similarities stop there. Internally, they are completely different. They have no moving parts or rotating platers. They rely solely on semiconductors and electronics for data storage making it a more reliable and robust than traditional magnetic. No moving parts also means that they use less power than traditional hard drives and are much faster too. With the prices of Solid State Drives coming down and is lower power usage, SSD’s are used extensively on laptops and mobile devices. External SSD’s are also a viable option for data backups. AVCOM deal with SSD in UAE with brands such as Samsung, ADATA, Kingston, Crucial, Corsair, HP Micron, Transcend and WD.

External Data Storage in UAE:

External Data storage devices are also called as Portable drive. These are external drives that are based on the 2.5-inch (laptop) internal drive, either a hard drive or a solid-state drive (SSD). They are generally compact, lightweight, and easy to carry. Portable drives are almost always single-volume drives and most, if not all, of them have the capability for bus power. A bus-powered drive uses its data cable to draw power from the host, sparing you from having to use a separate power adapter, making the drive truly portable. Portable drives are designed for people who need to carry data with them, such as laptop users, or to easily move data from one computer to another. AVCOM have brands such as Samsung, ADATA, Kingston, Crucial, Corsair, HP, Transcend and WD for portable drive in UAE.

Network Access Storage in UAE:

Network Access Data storage is also called as NAS in short. A NAS is an external hard drive that connects to a network instead of a computer. A NAS server generally connects directly to a router, or a switch, using a network cable. It’s similar to a real server that hosts lots of storage space, except it doesn’t have a mouse, keyboard, or a display. Instead it can be controlled via a Web interface. To take advantage of a NAS server, you need to connect it to the network using a Gigabit wired connection. Depending on the configuration, a NAS server can do a lot more than just provide storage. It can work as a streaming server, broadcasting digital content to network media players, host storage for remote users to access via the Internet, and even run apps designed for NAS servers. Currently Synology offers by far the most robust NAS servers on the market that offers pretty much everything you’d expect from a storage device and more. AVCOM have different network storage solutions Dubai, UAE. WD, Seagate, Synology, QNAP are some of rhe famous brand which we deal with for NAS in UAE.

Cloud Data Storage in UAE:

Cloud storage is a model of data storage in which the digital data is stored in logical pools, the physical storage spans multiple servers (and often locations), and the physical environment is typically owned and managed by a hosting company. Since the advent of the internet, the technology industry has been steadily moving away from local storage to remote, server-based storage and processing. Cloud storage providers are responsible for keeping the data available and accessible, and the physical environment protected and running. People and organizations buy or lease storage capacity from the providers to store user, organization, or application data. There are various NAS device provide cloud solution built-in such as

  • WD My Cloud Personal
  • WD My Cloud Mirror
  • Seagate Personal Cloud
  • QNAP TS
  • Buffalo LinkStation
  • Synology DiskStation

Apart from this AVCOM also deal with cloud hosting companies to give our customer with safer and advanced solution. Capable of growing alongside their storage needs.
